Our Story

Seattle's Original Hot Yoga Studio

You don't have to be flexible, calm, or in shape to start. You just have to show up. Everything else, the room teaches you.

Our History

Rooted in Fremont for over 30 years.

Sealevel has been practiced in Seattle since 1996. It opened as Yoga College of India, later became Bikram Yoga Seattle, and for over 30 years, under longtime owners Kathy Allen and Kevin Cooke, it grew into the city's longest-running traditional hot yoga studio. The foundation has never changed: 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises in a heated room.

Over the years the schedule grew to include Yin, Hot Pilates, Hot 26 Fusion, and Vinyasa Flow, but the tradition, and the community around it, stayed the same. The teachers carry years of practice in that lineage and beyond, and they lead with patience, skill, and warmth.

Under New Ownership

A new chapter, the same heart.

Sealevel is now owned by Alison, Brooke, and Pete. We came to it as practitioners first, drawn to this room the way you might be. Taking it on was never about changing what works. It was about making sure it lasts.

Our commitment is simple: keep Sealevel a great place to practice, look after the community that makes it what it is, and keep the doors open for another 30 years.
